Complete Guide
Installation Procedure
Systems should be install in shadow free area & nearer to the usage point.
Install the solar water heater system, collector facing south direction, with an inclination of 13 degree + latitude (approx. 24 degree at Bangalore).
Ensure Cold water supply tank above the solar hot water tank. (Minimum 6 feet from the roof level).
Connect cold water pipe to the bottom of the solar tank.
Provide the air vent to the hot water delivery line & ensure it is one feet higher than cold water tank.
Draw the hose pipe properly between solar tank & collector (FPC).
While installing ETC Tubes apply soap water on the glass tubes & insert slowly & gently to the solar tank. (make sure no leakage are found between glass tube & the tank).
Trouble Shooting
I. Not getting hot water : Getting only cold water or Luke warm water.
Check the mixing valve; close both cold water and hot water valves in all the bath rooms and where ever hot water is being connected.
Then open the valves in the next day morning.
During cloudy weather water temperature will increase only by 5 to 10ºC (Luke warm). During fully Sun shine day, the system will deliver hot water with good temperature.
Remove the blockage in the hose pipes.
Check the usage pattern, if it is used in the afternoon, system will deliver only Luke warm water during next day morning.
Clean the collector glass with plain water.
Check the leakage at the tap and close properly.
II. Water is not coming out of the system :
Check the cold water tank and fill the water if it is empty.
Check the Gate valves, if it is closed, open the gate valves.
Release the Air lock by opening the hose pipe on top of the collector, drain out the water for few minutes and reconnect the hose pipe.
Remove the blockage in the hot water outlet ie, on top of the solar tank delivery point.
Check the Air lock in the plumbing line.
III. Leakage in the systems:
Close the cold water inlet gate valve.
Check the hose pipe, rubber bush, gate valves joints, pipe joints & tighten properly.
Any leakage noticed in the solar tank, collector, glass tubes call the authorised service personnel / company agent.
IV. Not getting sufficient hot water for all the people in the house.
IV. Not getting sufficient hot water for all the people in the house.
Restrict the hot water usage or install the additional capacity of solar water hearting system.
Use hot water once in a day either in the morning or in the evening.
Call the company to check the performance of the system.
Restrict the usage of water in the afternoon.
Alternatively Electrical back up connected in the system can be used to meet the demand.
Maintainence
Maintain the cold water over head tank height above the solar tank.
Provide the Air vent up to the top of the cold water over head tank.
Minimise the hot water plumbing line as for as possible.
Install the system in a shadow free area.
Clean the system once in a year by draining out the water. If the water contains hardness and impurities then clean the system with the chemical liquid through authorised agency/personnel.
Paint the MS supports and legs once in two years.
Withdraws hot water steadily once in a day, either in the morning or in the evening.
Close the hot water and cold water mixing valve immediately after the usage of hot water. (Bathing rooms, Sink, Kitchen etc.)
Withdraw only specified quantity of hot water.
In case of pressurized system, use Pressure relief valve (PRV) and Air relief valve (ARV) in place of Air vent.
If the hardness of water is more than 250 PPM, it is advisable to install Heat
Exchanger system.( Heat transfer media either distilled water or Glycol based thermal liquid (OR) any other heat transfer media). Alternatively systems will have to be descaled by using chemicals through authorised personnel.
If you are not using the system for more than 15 days, then cover the solar collector with a cloth/ gunny bag/ Polyethylene sheet etc.
In order to avoid the wind velocity of more than 125 Km/Hour, grout the system legs and increase the parapet wall up to 3ft height or more.
